There was a time when shower heads were very simple and all the same shape and size – the only time they differed was if you had lots of money or you were in public changing rooms.  Today there is a wealth of different shower heads and showers to choose from such as power showers, waterfall shower heads, fixed shower heads, swivel shower heads, round heads, square headed showers and lots more designs available for your shower. Depending on what type of spray you want from your shower will decide what shower head you choose. Most shower heads today are variable you can change the power or way the water comes out of the shower head.

Not only are there a lot of different types of shower heads on the market but they are made from lots of different materials such as aluminum, brushed steel, stainless steel, plastic, brass and composite materials. Using all these different materials you can now mould your shower heads into lots of different shapes and styles. There are used in conjunction with the different types of showers available such as the over bath shower which in its self comes in two varieties like the one connected to the bath taps and the shower which is over the bath but has a power unit of its own such as the power shower units which have become very popular. Then you have the walk in shower which is also in two forms the shower room or wet room and the shower cubicle.

Once you have chosen you electric shower and the cubicle, room or whether you are going to have it over the bath then you need to decide on what type of shower head you are going to use or have. The shower heads can be split into three main types; the first one is the detachable shower head which is very moveable and especially good if you have the power shower or massage capability as you can move the shower head close to the body for maximum effect, the second type is the prehensile shower head which is adjustable making it one of the most popular choices if people of varying heights are going to be using the shower and the last type is the fixed shower head which is a good choice for the high powered showers as the piping can take more pressure than the flexible shower pipes although you can also have variable pressures so you can also simulate rain for a different showering experience.

There are so many different types, sizes, shapes and designs of shower heads that they are too numerous to mention the best idea is to go along to a store which sells shower units or look at all the options on the internet to see what is available and which sort of shower you want in your home. If you have more than one place where you want showers or showers exist at the moment you could fit different types in each one to see which one you prefer or have the option of using. In the end it comes down to personal preference and how much you want to spend on your showering experience – there is something for all budgets!
